<p>On the machine for conveying a tree trunk to a veneer paring machine or saw, there are retainer claws or spikes at intervals gripping the trunk at the end. There are two swivelling arms (4, 5) with a recess incorporated, each bearing three movable centering elements (13, 18, 19) mutually offset by angles of 120 deg.. These are movable simultaneously against the centre of the recesses and away from it again through a similar adjusting motion. The arms are non-rotatably mounted on a shaft (6), which has a slow rotary movement regulated by a reduction gear unit (44). The trunk's longitudinal axis is brought into line with the common axis of the retainer spikes holding its outside ends.</p> |
