1537207 Fuel injection valve for IC engine BENDIX CORP 12 May 1977 [17 June 1976] 20033/77 Heading F1B In an electromagnetically actuated fuel injection valve, the functions of fuel atomization, metering and on-off valving are each effected by different integers instead of being all controlled by a needle valve so that manufacturing tolerances can be relaxed. Atomization is effected by a thin metal disc 60 through which arcuate slots have been chemical etched, a cone 50 determining the spray configuration. Metering is effected by an orifice 76 manufactured by pushing a precision finished steel ball of the required diameter through an undersized hole. On-off valving is effected by a ball-valve 148 co-operating with a part-spherical seat 86 made by coining a ball 89 larger than the ball-valve 148 into a conical surface 78. |
