So that when required the flow of honey ceases immediately through the outlet opening at the bottom of a container the stopper (2) located inside the container extends in the closing direction where it has at its lower end a peripheral cutting edge (19). The outer surface (23) of the downwardly extending part of the stopper (2) corresponds at its lower end (16) to the side of the opening whilst at it its upper end it exceeds the size. The desired amount of honey can thus be measured whilst a sudden surge is prevented. If the base face (22) of the stopper (2) is raised up inside the peripheral cutting edge (19) honey is prevented from collecting on the underneath of the stopper and then dripping.
