METHOD OF PRETREATING METAL SURFACES

A method was developed for obtaining a temporary rust preventible layer over steel plate comprising a coating process in which said steel plate was dipped in 0.01-1.0 vol. % of phosphorylation soln. or brushed with mixed soln. or emulsion of non-water soluble oily materials and phosphorylation agent to form a rust preventible organic phosphate layer. This process can be best applied to hot or cold rolled steel plate used for manufg. steel drums.
