VOLUME REDUCTION OF SPENT RADIOACTIVE ION RXCHANGE RESIN

摘要

Spent radioactive ion exchange resin slurry from water conditioning units in nuclear reactors was dried to moisture content <50% in a fluidizedbed chamber which was heated at 70-80≦̸C in a reducing pressure 25in Hg. The remaining wet resin in the chamber was repeatedly heated in the same reducing pressure by superheated gas at 92-260≦̸C. The vol. redn. of the slurry was ˜50%, and the amt. of radioactive release was minimized.
