The robot device 1 can be installed in a plurality of installation positions in a work place, and comprises a multi-joint arm mechanism 200. An arm tip of the multi-joint arm mechanism comprises a fingertip effector 3 attached thereto. Position detection parts 104, 9-1 to 9-4 for detecting the installation position where the robot device is installed are provided. A plurality of work programs for describing operations of the multi-joint arm mechanism and the forefinger effector are stored in a storage part 106 in association with the plurality of respective installation positions. A work program associated with the installation position detected by the position detection part is selectively read out from the storage part.
