An overhead monorail conveyor has articulated trolleys (38) with drive wheels (41) and idle wheels (43) movable along an overhead suspended rail (10). The rail has a generally C-shaped cross section with an upper downward-facing channel (12) in which trolley guide rollers (80, 96) move and a lower upwardly convex semi-cylindrical surface (22) on which the grooved drive wheel (41) and the idle wheel (43) of each trolley (38) roll, protected by the central web (16) of the rail.
