Each monitoring device preferably includes a base unit, and a probe arm extending down from the base unit into the septic tank, wherein each probe arm includes a light emitting diode arm and a dark sensor photocell arm.

a base unit; a probe arm, wherein the probe arm extends downwardly from the base unit and further comprises:
a light emitting diode arm;a dark sensor photocell arm; wherein the base unit further comprises:
an inner radius;a cavity; and wherein the inner radius of the base unit possesses a radius substantially equal to a radius of a corresponding pipe to which the monitoring device is affixed in order to create a snap between the pipe and the monitoring device.
