The cell comprises a pair of flexible sheets (4, 6) facing each other. A pair of membranes (8, 10) is sandwiched between the sheets. A blood flow path (14) is defined between the membranes and plasma filtrate volumes (24, 26) are defined between each membrane and the adjacent sheet. Ports (20, 22, 30) are provided for input and output of blood and for output of plasma from the plasma filtrate volumes.
