Device for receiving municipal refuse and the like and conveyance and metered delivery of the waste to a device 8 for disintegrating the waste into a form suitable for composting. The device has a receptacle 2 for the waste which is open at the top. In this there is a conveying device 4, 5, attached to the bottom piece 3, for levelling out the waste and conveying it through an opening 6 in the receptacle 2 to the disintegrating device 8. The conveying device 4, 5 comprises a number of battens 16 running transversely to the direction of conveyance, which can be moved to and fro in their transverse direction. The battens 16 have a cross section such that, upon motion in the direction of conveyance, they present themselves to the waste material, and upon motion in the opposite direction, they leave the waste material substantially untouched. The effect of the reciprocating motion of the battens 16 is, firstly, that the waste material is levelled out before it is fed out from the receptacle 2 and, secondly, that the conveyor device 4, 5 has no returning belt or chain parts on which waste material can be carried to poorly accessible locations and accumulate there with resulting increased putrefaction and bacterial spread. <IMAGE> |
