A tool, intended for use with machine tools having automatic tool changing equipment, is designed to facilitate a rapid replacement of the cutting edge (6). The cutting edge (6) is fixed to an intermediate carrier (3) with a serrated undersurface (5) which matches the serrated surface (4) of the tool body (1). The intermediate carrier (3) is clamped by a sprung loaded sliding block (19) (8) with a tapered nose (9) which fits into a recess in the intermediate carrier (3). The block (8) is guided by longitudinal grooves along its side faces which engage matching projections along the side walls of the body (1).
