For joining a wooden beam to a steel girder, or similar, the process is for connecting wooden and metal building components to each other. The wooden component (2) contains a hole (6) with a pin (4) cemented into it. This passes through a matching hole (3) in the metal component (1), and fits against this component with a widened section (5). It can be a wooden or other peg, less rigid than the metal, with a head as long as the combined metal thickness and wood hole depth. This is simpler than screwing, nailing, riveting or clamping, and wood is not damaged.
|
