<p>An apparatus for and a method of wrapping sheet, card or plate material disposed in a stack (108). The apparatus includes a source of wrapping material (42) and a table (77) movable about an axis between limit positions (Fig. 6). The table supports the stack in one limit position and in movement pivotally to the other limit position assists in locating the stack to a heat table (47). The wrapping material preferably is a heat sealable plastic film and means (91, 92, 71) are provided to guide the end region of the wrapping material from the source to and beyond the table. The stack in the one limit position rests on the wrapping material which is caused to partially envelop e the stack. In pivotal movement to the other limit position, the stack strikes the guide means (71) to locate an upstream length of wrapping material to the heat table below the stack for sealing the juxtaposed layers across their width. Simultaneously, the wrapping material is severed from the wrapped stack. Marginal edge sealing by heat or otherwise is contemplated. </p> |
