Press stud type fastenings are provided on the contacting faces of the plastic moulded sections of a welding socket intended to insulate the weld or welds between the conductors of two or more cables, by resin which is poured in the molten state. There are two sections which enclose the cable ends and delimit a casting cavity into which at least one filling opening leads. Pref. >=1 of the contacting faces of the socket has an elastic sealing layer. A stocking is fitted around the welds against the wall of the cavity. At least one of the two sections is provided with a hole for a fastening, and the hole extends through a spacing bush on the outside. Provides a means by which the cavity around a welded joint between two cables can be quickly filled and completely embedded with insulating resin.
