Magnetic separator for suspended particles in circulating fluid - in conventional or nuclear power plant

In the sepn. of small magnetisable particles from a flowing medium with multiple wire filters transverse to a magnetic field between upper and lower pole shoes, where the medium enters and leaves laterally and is uniformly distributed across the ends of the magnetic poles, the latter are movable relative to each other. The chamber has end projections affixed to the pole shoes, and the distributor system includes upper and lower annular chambers. The filter nets are held in inserts replaceably mounted in the filter space between the poles. The unit removes magnetic particles of various types, e.g. Fe3O4 or CuO down to below 1 micron from steam or coolant circuits. The circumferential fluid feed enables the pole extension to be brought into direct contact with the filter insert, producing a stronger field, or to be moved away to aid filter replacement.
