<p>A sheet of rubber or other elastomeric material is brought into contact with a number of moulds, the edges of which act as cutters, for the prodn. of thin articles such as seals, stoppers, etc. Sheet is stamped out by means of the moulds and after the waste has been removed, the moulds with the blanks are put into the press and heated to vulcanise them. The mouldings are then removed from the moulds. Used for prodn. of rubber articles such as seals to be used for foodstuffs, medicines, e.g. as seals for preserving jars, etc. Process yields prods. for these purposes which are much cheapers than those mfd. by conventional methods. The waste material is not vulcanised and can thus be recycled.</p> |
