Title compds. (I; R1 = substituted aryl or heterocycle selected from halogen, nitro, etc.; R2, R3 = esterified carboxy; R4d = lower alkyl; R5d = cyano, W-cyano, lower alkyl), useful as hypertensives, were prepd. by reaction of compd. II (R4b = lower alkyl; R5b = W-oxo lower alkyl) and hydroxylamine, and followed by dehydration to give I. Thus, diethyl-2-methyl-4-(2-chlorophenyl)-6-hydroxy iminomethyl-1, 4-dihydro pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate was prepd. from EtOH, diethyl-2-methyl-4-(2-chlorophenyl)-6-formyl-1, 4-dihydro pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate, hydroxyl amineHCL and sodium carbonate.
