<p>The control for the cine camera optical system includes a toothed wheel surrounding the mobile optical element. A pinion (13) lies on an axis at right angles to the axis of the mobile optical element, and is connected to a small handle (14) for manual adjustment. A second pinion lies in a similar position w.r.t the optical element and is connected to the spindle of a servomotor (15). The operation of the servomotor is remotely controlled according to a prepared programme. An appropriate electronic control provides continuous or intermittent movement of the optical element at various speeds, the relative number of teeth on the driven pinion and the toothed wheel determining the speed of operation. The system may be used for normal filming or for the creation of special effects, according to the type of optical element which is controlled and the way in which the adjustment is made.</p> |
