The piston engine has a number of reciprocating pistons transmitting heat energy generated in cylinders onto a shaft. The pistons (2-4) all work against the same section of the shaft (8), on which a driving disc (10) is formed, equipped with rollers (15-17) against which the pistons act. The rollers can turn on trunnions (18) on the disc, being mounted on both sides of the latter, and running against ramps (22) formed on the piston ends, the ramp faces (26,27) bearing against the rollers being concave.
