Two handrail belts are used, the one on the outer balustrade of one path or excalator crossing between the paths and on to the outer balustrade of the other path. This is achieved by guides which impart a twist to the belt and allow it to bend about its transverse axis. The inner belt passes from one inner balustrade to the other via a horizontal pulley. Removablee panels in the balustrade permit removal of the belts.. The handrail is for pairs of escalators or walkways. The part of the moving loop that would normally be returning unused in the balustrade is used, thus necessitating approx. only half of the length that would otherwise be required.
