The solids which are opened in the radially outermost wall(15) of a disc centrifuge bowl can be opened and closed by means of valve ring. The chambers(16) are far from the axis of rotation(13) as the farthest portion of the bowl cavity and the necessay valve operating force is therefere generated by centrifugal forces in very small chambers. Either one or both chambers are supplied with water to open and close the discharge openings occording to the radial widths of the chambers.
