The thermostatically controlled fluid mixing valve maintains a constant temperature outflow by measuring the temperature with a probe and using the generated signal to vary the rates of cold and hot water. Hot water passes from inlet (11) to outlet (42) via a hollow control valve body (26). Cold water passes from inlet (12) through the controlled gap between the hollow valve lip (33) and orifice plate (35). A temperature probe (44) monitors the outlet flow and provides a signal that is compared with a reference. The difference signal is used to drive a d.c. motor (14) with a worm gear coupling to a rod (22) connected to the hollow control valve (26).
