Corrosion inhibition in gas wells - at high temp. and pressure, using higher fatty amine

Process is claimed for inhibiting corrosion in high-temp. and -pressure gas wells which may contain a water or brine phase but do not contain a petroleum condensate phase under the prevailing bottom-hole conditions. The process comprises injecting a fatty amine (I) contg. more than 12C atoms into the well. Amines of type (I) form a protective film which remains in the liq. phase under severe bottom-hole conditions, e.g. at pressures of 3000-15,000 psia and temps. up to 350 deg.F.
