The centrifugal governor type switch operates when the revolutions of a motor shaft, or similar, rises above a specified r.p.m. The switch is intended for safety purposes. The pendulum arm (13) lies along the rotor shaft (10) axis (D) and has a pendulum weight (14) at the shaft end. The pendulum arm (13) is bent through almost 90 degrees (13b) across the axis (D) to lie along a support arm (19,12). A tensioning spring (18) holds it in position and at a specified distance (A) from the disconnect switch (23,24,28) plunger (25). The pendulum arm (13b) is held by a metal band (15) along the support arm (12). When the r.p.m. is exceeded a release 'snap effect' operates the switch.
