The filter uses a centrifuge controlled by a control unit that constantly measures lubricant temperature. The control unit connects the dc motor of the centrifuge to the vehicle's battery according to the temp. of the lubricant. The centrifuge is designed to rotate the filter drum, thus separating out solid contaminates. Cleaning is initiated when the density of the lubricant increases beyond a given point due to the inclusion of solids. The temp. of the lubricant is measured using a bimetal helix. The control unit contains electronic components suitable for controlling the motor in accordance with lubricant temperature.
