The control slide valve is connected between a pump etc. and one or more rams. It has a locking position, in which it shuts off the mouths of passages in the housing leading to the rams by a masking portion. At this portion (B) there are one or more drain passages (8) in the housing (1) and/or the valve slide (2). These can discharge to atmosphere or into separate collector vessels, or into the valve return passages (6). In the working position of the valve slide they can be shut off.
