The operating gear is for valves or hand-operated tools, having a drive motor and a sealable housing between drive and driven sides. In the housing is a rotatable adjuster and a deformable tension wheel which is pot-shaped and a pair of annular wheels connected to the housing and the adjusting component and both meshing with the tension wheel. Radial support bearings are provided for the shaft actuator (14) and the floor (12) on the drive side of the tension wheel (4). These supports form a part of the tension wheel (4), some being integral and revolving with the tension shaft actuator.
