Clamping mechanism for insulator chain of HV overhead power lines - has C=shaped arc protector ring with weighting segment in slot

A clamping mechanism is for a multi-insulator chain of a h.v. overhead transmission line. Each insulator chain has an arc protector ring made from a material with a C cross-section at the conductor ends. The ring is relatively heavy without this interfering with the protective function. It provides the facility for increasing the weight of arc protection rings in existing h.v. overlead lines. The ring has a slot open towards the centre. The slot contains weighted pieces (10-13) in the shape of ring segments. They are kept in position by clamping wedges (20).
