<p>A method of and apparatus for producing a continuous metallic tape from a metallic material wire (4) by rolling. The material wire having any desired cross-sectional shape is fed into the gap between a pair of rolls (1, 2) in a direction parallel to the axes of the rolls. The rolls are adapted to be angularly reciprocated or oscillated over a predetermined angular stroke. Means are provided at the material wire inlet side and the product tape outlet side for shifting the material wire and the product tape in a direction perpendicular to the direction of feed reciprocatingly and in synchronism with the angular displacement of the rolls. Means are provided for intermittently feeding the material wire, when the latter is out of the area of rolling pressure.</p> |
