Cleaning of conveyor belt used to carry scrap glass - where air stream blows any residual glass particles off the belt

At the end of the belt, where the conveyed material falls downwards in a vertical stream (3) off the belt, is a nozzle (5) with a long outlet slot extending over the width of, and below, the belt. Nozzle (5) is fed by a fan or blower with air at a pressure strong enough to blow any residual particles off the belt, but not so strong that stream (3) is deflected from its vertical path. The air is pref. at 1.4-1.5 bars; and nozzle (5) is pref. mounted on a swivel and has an outlet slot (6) of adjustable size. The object of the invention is to prevent glass particles from remaining on the belt and causing rapid wear of the rollers round which the belt travels.
