Frost-inhibiting aggregate for surface coating roads consists of (a) a base component contg. inorganic material in which the individual grains have at least 30% pore vol. and contain a first frost-inhibiting material, esp. NaCl, embedded in grain cavities, and of (b) a supplementary component in which the individual grains consist of an organic material, pref. polyurethane foam powder, having at least 30% pore vol. and contg. a second embedded frost inhibitor, esp. Ca chloride At least one of components is rendered water-repellent by adhered organic Si cpds. The binder is bitumen or asphalt.. The NaCl-contg. aggregate can be prepd. and stored separately from the Ca chloride-contg. aggregate. The NaCl-contg. component also fulfils the activity of a filler while the Ca chloride-contg. component controls frost-inhibiting activity.
