<p>The power operated compass saw has a blade (1) clamped at an upper end in a supporting structure. At its lower end the blade (1) has a taper (18) on the rear edge such that, on downward movement of the blade the tapered edge engages with a roller (19) to be moved towards the material being cut. A spring (21) biasses the blade (1) against the roller (19). On its upward movement, the blade is moved by the spring free of the material as the taper moves on the roller, thus preventing tearing of the teeth of the blade. The spring also assists the drive motor during downward movement of the blade.</p> |
