The detachable pivot is for a car roof flap. The hinge lies in the longitudinal direction for lateral opening and there are two coaxial bolts operating in opposing directions to grip into prepared holes in the roof opening. The bolts (72,74) are operated by a central cam (64) linked to a single hand grip (82). The handgrip is operated from inside the car to unclip the panel and convert the vehicle for open roof motoring. The bolts locate in guidance sleeves attached to the vehicle by mounting plates (19) with adjustable fittings. The roof panel is aligned flush with the roof line.
