Flowmeter magnetic float position indication - using ferromagnetic liquid contg. magnetite particles in container beside measurement tube

An indicator showing the position of a float in the measurement tube of a float flowmeter with a magnetic float. It operates simply and reliably with an opaque measurement tube and/or liquid using considerably fewer mechanical components than conventional arrangements. The position of the float (11) is indicated by disturbances induced in a ferromagnetic liquid (15) in a container (13) extending along and placed next to the measurement tube (10). The container is a tube or a body with a semicircular or U-shaped cross-section. If a U-shaped cross-section is used the two arms are shorter than their connecting piece. The ferromagnetic liquid contains particles of approximately 100 angstrom size consisting of magnetite. Their concentration is about one to four vol. per cent.
