The securing catch is for a folding rear seat. The seat back is held on each side of the car by double jawed catches (3,6) which grip bolts (5). The jaws are designed to assume an open position, held by a striker plate (11b) until the bolt fits securely in the jaws. This prevents premature closing of the jaws with a subsequent unsafe support for any seat belts. One jaw lever is U-shaped (10) and tilts when struck by the bolt. The other jaw lever (3) is mounted on a crossbar (12) for simultaneous operation of both catches and has the striker plate (11b).
