The splined coupling is for use between two rotary members, particularly in a hydraulic steering system. In the centre of one of the splines (3) is a pressure component (13) spring-loaded in the radial direction in a bore (9), and secured before assembly by a stop (14) in a position such that it protrudes beyond the cross-section of the spline on both sides. The component can be a ball, its dia. being greater than the width of the spline head, and also of the spline foot. The stop can be formed by peening over the edge of the bore, typically by centre-punching at four points in the grooves adjacent to the spline.
|
