<p>The membrane press,applies a veneer to a carrier and bonds it with an adhesive layer. The first press plate (18) carries a sealing frame (56') to match up with the sealing frame (56) on the second press plate (16) in the direction of press closing. There is also a membrane (22') to act with the first press plate (18) when the press is closed, to give a further pressure zone connected to a pressure source (62,66). The upper and lower press sections are interchangeable. When the press is open, the membrane (22') lies loosely across the free end surfaces of the sealing frame (56') on the first press plate (18) to lie between the sealing frame and plate. There are clamps to hold the ends of the membrane (22') in place. There are supports (24) to carry the pressure medium under the membrane (22') and hold it clear of the press plate (18) surface, and also to support the workpiece (50).</p> |
