<p>The pump has a pot shaped casing (1) with inlet and discharge connections (5,6). A drive shaft (11) carries an externally toothed pinion (7) inside the casing which meshes with an internally toothed wheel (8) fixed to the stationary casing. Oil is pumped between the gears from the inlet (5) to the discharge (6). The casing is closed on the side opposite the entry of the drive shaft by an elastic cover (2). This is screwed to the casing except at the point (8) opposite the discharge port (6). If the oil pressure exceeds a prescribed value this corner of the cover is lifted and acts as a relief valve.</p> |
