Machine tool indexing table - has odd number of 180 degrees rotatable work clamps to present two sides of work to even number of fixed machining stations

The indexing table (6) is intended for a multi-station machine tool (e.g. with four multi-spindle vertical drills (3) and carries a number (e.g. nine) circumferentially equi-spaced (1/2T) workpiece clamp units (1) which are each rotatable through 180 deg. about a horizontal axis (2) by a cylinder actuator to present one or the other side upwards for machining. Each machining station (3) covers two adjacent clamp unit positions, whilst one clamp unit position (L) is reserved for work loading and unloading. From the loading point (L) the table indexes through angles (T) corresponding with two clamp position spacing angles so that a loaded workpiece reaches the position (L) after two table revolutions. The work is rotated 180 deg. as it passes position (L) after one table revolution.
