PURPOSE:An antitumor agent using both 5-fluorocytosine and cytosine deaminase, showing antitumor actions by mutual actions. CONSTITUTION:An antitumor agent using both 5-fluorocytosine and cytosine deaminase. Both 5-fluorocytosine and cytosine deaminase do not have antitumor actions individually. But when both the substances are used, the amino group of 5-fluorocytosine is deaminated and 5-fluorocytosine is converted into 5-fluorouracil having antitumor actions to show the antitumor effects. Cytosine deaminase does not exist in the human body, and it is preferably administered locally. 5-Fluorouracil has strong toxicity, but its toxocity can be lowered.
