Process for the preparation of thermocurable prepolymers of the maleimide type

In a process for the preparation of a thermocurable prepolymer of the maleimide type, A) a polyfunctional maleimide compound, B) a bismaleimide compound, C) a diamine and D) an epoxy compound are reacted. The prepolymer has rapid curability, good solubility in inexpensive and low-boiling solvents, such as acetone, methyl ethyl ketone and methylcellosolve. The prepolymers can advantageously be employed for the production of laminated sheets having good heat resistance, low moisture absorption and good adhesion to various substrates such as copper foils.
