The precision clamp is for holding a workpiece during machining. It comprises a fixed jaw (4) and a jaw (23) which is movable (7-10) longitudinally towards the jaw. The jaw is formed as a (90 deg.) V-block whilst the movable jaw (23) has a smaller-angle (e.g. 70 deg.) V-section outer contour with a smaller V-section groove (24) which is open in the direction of the open V-block. The jaw (23) may be laterally and vertically slidable. The jaw may be rotatably carried so that workpieces of different shapes can be clamped between the jaws.
