The machine cleans and/or fills containers, particularly cylindrical ones such as kegs. The fluid or gas is delivered to a valve in the container end face via one or more treatment heads. The heads travel at set intervals along a typically circular path and in the process are connected to supply and discharge pipes. Valves (6, 9-11) are provided in each of the supply and discharge pipes (14',15',30',32') travelling with the heads (3) and the containers (5) secured to them. Their actuating members (19,20,21) work with other members (33,22,23,24) as they travel past them, which cause them to open and shut. These second members are mounted at set distances apart in the travel direction.
