TV recording system for copying image onto paper - uses comparators digitising colour signals for shade translation circuit

A still TV image is recorded onto a support material e.g. paper by a printing machine using digital data representing a video signal. The system enables the colours and their shades to be translated and transferred. The recording circuit has a sampling clock input which is connected to a comparator with a variable threshold control. The output is a digital signal with the appropriate logic level which passes through a switch which routes it to a local clock or to a counter. The counter has a max. capacity equal to the number of printing heads. The colour signals are applied to comparators in parallel with adjustable threshold controls to provide logic level signals for a shade translation circuit.
