<p>N-(2-(3,4,5-Trimethoxybenzoylthio) propionyl)glycine of formula (I) is new. (I) is prepd. by reacting (II) with 3,4,5- trimethoxybenzoyl chloride (III) in the presence of a base, pref. in an aq. medium in the presence of K2CO3 or Na2CO3. (I) is useful for treating acute and chronic bronchitis, liver disorders and the effects of intoxication (e.g. by CCl4). It generally has comparable activity to 2-mercaptopropionylglycine (II) but has better stability and a better taste and odour. Oral dose may be 100-500 mg. Fl.</p> |
