Industrial wastes treatment - by adding heavy metal complex decomposing agents before ultrafiltration

Industrial wastes which contain emulsions, oil detergents and other dispersed substances, are cleaned by ultrafiltration so that the permeate is clean enough for discharge to the drainage system. If the wastes also contain dissolved complexes of heavy metals from e manufacture of integrated circuits, complex decomposing chemicals are added before and during ultrafiltration to make the heavy metals insoluble in water. A pump takes the wastes from a storage tank to a working tank under the control of a float and level regulator. Another pump circulates the liquid through an ultrafilter. Complex splitting chemicals are added from a container by a redox potential pickup. The heavy complexes thus remain in the concentrate as precipitated metal particles and do not poison the permeate.
