<p>An infrared sensitive multiple photon detector is suitable for temp. measurements, infrared spectroscopy, and ratio pyrometry. The detectors are cooled and in a vacuum with at least two, not in contact, mounted one behind the other. The entry face of the first detector is plano-convex and has an antireflection coating on it. The devices also incorporate CdHgTe long wavelength absorbing detectors and stud doped germanium short wavelength detectors. The detector comprises a gold doped germanium stud (1) with a face area of 4 sq.mm and length of 3mm operated at 77 deg.K in its sensitivity range of 3 to 7 micro m wavelength. Its beam exit (2) is convex so that wavelengths not absorbed by the germanium stud are reflected and focussed on the smaller CdHgTe detector (10). The cooler (14) maintains the temp. and the CdHgTe detector operates in the wavelength range 7 to 12 micro m.</p> |
