[Class 46] Sand or granular material is separated from liquid delivered to a vessel A through a pipe F by a filtering partition B, the solid matter being swept round the partition by scrapers G on a vertical shaft H to a sector-shaped opening C and discharged therethrough, while the liquid passes through the partition B to a space E connected by a pipe K to a suction pump. The filtering partition may comprise a frame consisting of a hub B<1> and spokes connected to an outer rim, each of the spaces between the spokes, except that corresponding to the opening C, being fitted with two perforated plates or wire mesh panels having glass wool or other filtering material between them. The space E may be divided by radial partitions into compartments, some only of which are connected to the pump. According to the Provisional Specification the filtering partition may consist of a perforated plate and a filter cloth. |
