摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical modulation device which is inexpensive because of a simple configuration, and with which it is possible to select a wavelength with high accuracy.SOLUTION: Provided is an optical modulation device comprising first reflection means, a first phase adjustment section, first diffraction means, a second phase adjustment section, and second reflection means in order along a first optical waveguide for propagating incident light as waveguide light, and configured with a resonator for the incident light of prescribed wavelength, the optical modulation device being further provided with a first electrode pair for applying an electric field to the first phase adjustment section and a second electrode pair for applying an electric field to the second phase adjustment section, at least one of the first optical waveguide and an optical buffer layer provided adjacent to the first optical waveguide being formed with a material having an electro-optical effect, the intensity of radiant light diffracted and radiated is modulated by changing the voltages applied to the first and second electrode pairs and thereby changing the refractive index of waveguide light propagating to the first optical waveguide when incident light is incident on the first diffraction means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
