A chimney cowl is provided with inner, lower, clean conduits 14 for guiding condensed water down into a collecting tray 6 situated in the hot zone of the chimney top, whereby the collected water disappears by evaporation. The cowl part 8 is a half-tube-shaped element having a wind vane 16 placed in such a way that the cowl element will take up a position crosswise to the wind, whereby the smoke leaves the cowl in a direction crosswise to the direction of wind, through the opposing open ends of the cowl; hereby, the room below the cowl will be shielded from direct influence of the wind, such that sufficient heat may be collected or kept for said evaporation. Due to the same reason, the cowl is designed such that it will act as a reflector for heat radiation from the chimney. <IMAGE>
